School Effectiveness Lead-NEOSA 2007-2010
The School Effectiveness Framework was launched by The Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat in September 2007 to support continuing improvement in Ontario's publicly funded elementary schools. The framework outlines a district-wide, whole-school approach to data analysis, improvement planning and the implementation of strategies to address challenges and build capacity.
My role was to work with 12 school boards from Pentanguishene to Moosonee to support them through the School Effectiveness Framework process:
1.To build board and school capacity in identifying strengths, and next steps
2. Foster introspection, reflection, and analysis
3. Foster precise, intentional, and measurable improvement planning at the school and board level. This will be accomplished by working together to develop SMART
goals based on student need, driven by student data, and informed by the work of the PLCs.
4.Report the plans to the Ontario Student Achievement Officer and lead the District and School Summary Review
5.To support the implementation of high yield, research based strategies
6. To determine the monitoring and feedback strategies necessary for improvement and accountability
7. To provide a forum for consensus building around school improvement
8. To communicate, celebrate, and build public confidence around school effectiveness.
9. To provide or source appropriate professional development to support the improvement plan goals
